KUALA LUMPUR: Popular 90s actress Wafa Abdul Kadir passed away at her home in Tropicana, Petaling Jaya around 1.10 am today. She was 52.
The news of her passing was confirmed by the actress’ friend Datuk Tuan Asmawi Tuan Umar.
Wafa’s remains will be buried at the Bukit Kiara muslim cemetery before Zohor prayers today.
The star of Azizah The Legend was battling Stage 4 ovarian and peritoneal cancer.
According to news reports, Wafa was rushed to the National Cancer Institute on March 2 as she was said to be in a critical condition.
Five days later, she was discharged from the hospital.
First diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2014, Wafa underwent surgery to remove her ovaries, fallopian tube, womb and ormentum (a layer that surrounds the abdominal organs) the following year.
She was then diagnosed with stage 4 peritoneal cancer.
Wafa is the daughter of former Wilayah Persekutuan Mufti, the late Tan Sri Abdul Kadir Talib.
She is survived by her husband from her third marriage, Tajul Faizal Tamimuddin, 53, and four children from her previous marriages.
