KUALA LUMPUR: Former vocalist of rock band Jinbara, Shamsul Bakhtiar Zakaria a.k.a. Tia, who was diagnosed with liver cancer, died at about 9.17pm at Shah Alam Hospital in Selangor. He was 53.
The news of the singer's passing was confirmed by his wife, Suzan Ahmad.
"Yes, that's right, my husband just died a while ago due to liver cancer.
"However, I cannot say much more as I am making funeral arrangements now," she said.
Earlier Tia was diagnosed with liver cancer and received treatment at HSA.
He was admitted to the hospital last Wednesday after complaining of abdominal pain.
After being examined, including tests which included X-ray, colonoscopy and Computed Tomography (CT) scan, doctors confirmed that they detected a cancerous growth in his liver.
