Malaysia's 'One Two Jaga' scoops two major trophies at AIFFA 2019

KUCHING: Malaysian film Crossroads: One Two Jaga bagged two major awards at the 2019 Asean International Film Festival Awards (AIFFA) here, last night.

The gritty crime action film earned its director, Shahili Abdan, or Nam Ron, the Best Director award; while Putrajaya-based Amerul Affendi was named Best Supporting Actor, Bernama reported.

Crossroads’ AIFFA accolades come in the wake of it being crowned Best Film at the 30th Malaysian Film Festival, just last month.

Meanwhile, AIFFA’s Best Film award went to the Philippines’ Signal Rock, which was directed by Chito S. Rono and stars Christian Bables and Keanna Reeves.

The Best Male Actor trophy went to Kristoffer King for the Filipino film Kristo; while Indonesian star Raihaanun was named Best Actress for her performance in 27 Steps of May.

More than 100 films from 10 Asean nations competed in nine categories at AIFFA 2019, which was held at the Hotel Pullman here.
