#Showbiz: Appreciate freedom and loved ones while you have them, says death row inmates to Norman Hakim, Alif Satar

KUALA LUMPUR: The opportunity to meet the death row inmates of Sungai Buloh Prison resulted in an unforgettable moment for celebrities Norman Hakim and Alif Satar. It was indeed an experience of a lifetime for both when they had the chance to break their fast and perform terawih prayers yesterday with those waiting to be sent to the gallows.

Norman, 43, shared that it touched his heart to see how calm and peaceful each inmate looked when he met them during his visit, despite their inevitable gloomy future.

“May God forgive me for having a skeptical opinion prior to meeting these individuals...I know I’m not as strong for my eyes welled when I shook hands with them. Only God knows how they could be so calm, with smiles plastered on their faces...they are indeed ready for their last journey,” he wrote.

He added that the most profound words of advice and wisdom shared by the prisoners was for them to appreciate the freedom and the people around them for as long as they have them.

Norman and Alif spent four hours with the inmates yesterday, at the invitation of the Federal Territories’ Mufti, Datuk Seri Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri.
