KUALA LUMPUR: Popular Korean actress Song Hye Kyo who is divorced to fellow actor Song Joong Ki late last month has since been making a string of public appearances.
According to Soompi, she was seen just over a week after her divorce at an event for a cosmetics brand in China.
More recently, the 37-year-old actress had attended a promotional event for the hi-end French jeweller Chaumet in Monaco of which she serves as its Asian ambassador.
Song Hye Kyo was later spotted clad in a beautiful dinner gown sitting next to the elite in high society, which included Hollywood actress Natalie Portman and Russian supermodel Natalia Vodianova.
The photos sparked an uproar amongst some Netizens who criticised the Descendants Of The Sun star for being publicly active in her promotional work despite the unfortunate news of her divorce.
It didn’t help that the Korean celebrity looked like she was enjoying herself and laughing away in some of the photos.
One irate Netizen said: “She doesn’t look distressed to me.”
Another added: “Divorce isn't a crime but how can you smile and try to look pretty as if nothing happened?”
But Song Hye Kyo’s fans came forward to her defence.
One wrote: “Yes, go out there and show the world that you are dignified, elegant, classy and beautiful.”
It was reported that certain industry observers have noted that the tide of sympathy has been turning towards her ex-husband Song Joong Ki.
The 33-year-old actor’s agency had announced that he would be taking time out from public events for the moment.
This is apparently considered the appropriate thing to do after a divorce in the conservative nation of South Korea.
