#Showbiz: Ernie's groovy Raya song a nod to the 1950s

NOT wanting to miss out on enlivening the Aidilfitri mood this year, popular singer Ernie Zakri has come up with a Hari Raya song with a twist.

Titled 'HAHAHAHAHari Raya', the festive tune takes its influence from the past, particularly the 1950s.

"Like songs by the late Saloma, it captures the musical vibe from the era of the 1950s.

"This element creates a slight difference in terms of sound, compared with my previous Raya songs," Ernie said in a statement.

The 31-year-old artiste, whose full name is Nur Ernie Shahirah Zakri, added that recording the new track was pretty easy.

"In the beginning, there was already a short version of about two minutes. Then we decided to extend the track.

"I added a melody, particularly at the song's bridge because I wanted to showcase something new to this piece.

"So, there are modern elements as well and it's not entirely similar to a Saloma song from the 1950s.

"In working with my fellow writers at Faithful Music, I always gain new experiences in addition to learning other techniques in song creation.

"I'm happy to be able to work with them while breaking new ground in music," she said.

Ernie composed and wrote the song with Mage, Glowrush and Ajay Amai of Faithful Music. The track was arranged and produced by Adib Hussin and Glowrush.

'HAHAHAHAHari Raya' also has its own music video, which was filmed during Ramadan.

"The storyline of the music video is very simple.

"It revolves around three siblings on the eve of Hari Raya and I play the role of the eldest sister, Kak Long, who tries to unite my two younger siblings who are always arguing.

"It features a fun, cheerful and very relaxed concept," said the Kuala Lumpur-born singer and mother of one.

Ernie, who is married to fellow singer Syamel, hopes that the song will be well received but more importantly, make people happy.

"If possible, everyone wants their songs to be evergreen and long-lasting, but most importantly, I want this tune to make listeners laugh and be happy.

"I want them to enjoy it since it is meant to be an Aidilfitri celebration song.

"Hopefully, the listeners will find the joy of Eid when listening to this track," she said.

'HAHAHAHAHari Raya' is available on all digital platforms and the music video can be streamed via Ernie Zakri's official YouTube channel.
