KUALA LUMPUR: Could Sarawak-born Hollywood actor Henry Golding be playing the role of a villain in a Marvel film next?
While the executives from Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) have not made any official announcement on the sequel for last year’s Black Panther, there are already rumours of a new villain.
According to a recent news report, the 32-year-old star of Crazy Rich Asians and A Simple Favor is being eyed for the role.
Industry insiders were quoted as saying that Disney was considering Golding to play Namor, a kind of human-mermaid hybrid who was one of Marvel’s first anti-heroes.
Namor and the Atlantis realm first made it into the MCU in Iron Man 2 and possibly teased in Avengers: Endgame when Okoyo mentioned some underwater earthquakes on the African continent.
Anyway, while the news is not yet confirmed, it sure is exciting to hear Malaysian presence in the MCU.
A graphic artist actually took it a step further by creating a digital poster of the actor as the King of Atlantis, and named the sequel Two Kings and shared it on Instagram, which of course was liked by Golding himself.
