#Showbiz: 5 P. Ramlee movies set for silver screen during Merdeka celebration

KUALA LUMPUR: While most Malaysians are very familiar with the late Tan Sri P. Ramlee movies thanks to their re-runs on television, not many can claim of having caught them at the cinemas.

In conjunction with this upcoming National Day celebration, TGV Cinemas is bringing back five of his iconic movies to the big screen from Aug 24 to Sept 16 at its selected locations.

They are Anakku Sazali, Nujum Pak Belalang, Labu Labi, Ibu Mertuaku and Madu Tiga.

This effort is part of TGV Cinema’s The Gemilang Vibes campaign.

One of the campaign highlights is a special tribute to P. Ramlee, unarguably the country’s national treasure who had greatly contributed to the local film and music industry.

“It is a great opportunity to re-introduce these great works of art to the younger generation and of course to all P. Ramlee fans just like myself. These screenings are something you won’t want to miss,” said Kabir A. Sultan, TGV Cinemas’ general manager of operations and marketing.

“We’re pleased to work with Shaw Brothers to bring back some of P. Ramlee’s most memorable movies to the big screen,” he added.

A true inspiration to all Malaysians, P. Ramlee was involved in 66 films throughout his career.

While tickets are priced at RM5 each for MovieClub members, they are priced at RM7 each for non-members.

TGV Cinemas will also be screening more recent Malaysian movies that have received critical acclaim, such as the award-winning Adiwiraku and Paskal: The Movie during the same period as well.
