#Showbiz: Sangkar collects RM5mil at box office just after 5 days

KUALA LUMPUR: After five days of screening, the Kabir Bhatia-directed action movie Sangkar has already collected RM5 million at the box office.

The amount is the total collection since its opening on Aug 29 in three countries — Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei.

The movie, a joint venture production between Primeworks Studios, Astro Shaw, Infinitus Gold and MM2 Entertainment, also saw tickets for 107 screening slots selling out by Sept 1, according to a news report today.

The cast of the movie includes Remy Ishak, Zul Ariffin, Mira Filzah, Nik Adam Mika, Aman Graseka, Carliff Carlee and Andy Teh, as well as professional mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter, James ‘SledgeHammer’ McSweeney.

Meanwhile, Remy, 37, was quoted in the report as saying that it was not an easy task for him to play the wheelchair-bound character Johan as he needed to be concious of limiting his body movements.

“I also had to put on weight to weigh around 85kg to 90kg during filming,” he said.
