#Showbiz: Nas-T to play titular role of Keluang Man [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Forty-year-old actor Nas Muammar Zar, better known as Nas-T, is set to play the titular role of Keluang Man, or Borhan, when the live-action production begins filming in April next year.

Revealing this at an event held here last night, Astro Shaw said Nas-T will star alongside three other actors, Datuk Rosyam Nor, Remy Ishak, and newcomer Anwaar Beg Moghal, who will be playing the roles of Ahmad, Shamsir and Inspector Sahab, respectively.

At the event, Anwari Ashraf, the film's scriptwriter who will also be helming it, said that Nas-T was chosen out of 300 actors who had sent in videos as part of the casting process for the iconic local comic superhero created by the late animator Kamn Ismail in 1998.

"After much deliberation, we at Astro Shaw unanimously decided that Nas-T has all the criteria to play this role," said the director, whose previous projects included the highly-acclaimed drama series Projek: High Council.

Despite being thrilled to play the lead, Nas-T humbly said: "This is not about me, but it's about the character Keluang Man/Borhan itself.

"I'm still reeling with nervousness to have landed this role. The casting process was tough, and I had to go through four stages of the selection process before they finally called me to share the good news.

"I heard there were many other great actors who also sent their videos and it's still felt almost unreal that I got to play this iconic local comic superhero role."

While filming will begin some time after next Hari Raya Aidilfitri, it is expected to open in cinemas some time in 2025.
