#Showbiz: Jihan wins top Asian comedy prize

KUALA LUMPUR: Comedienne and television host Jihan Muse has done the country proud winning Best Comedy Performance at the Asian Academy Creative Awards (AAA) 2019.

The 36-year-old co-host of Gegar Vaganza 6 (GV6) was announced as the category's winner today, and she took to Instagram to share the good news with fans and followers.

Her win was specially for her performance in the Viu comedy-drama Keluarga Baha Don which has just wrapped up its first season.

Jihan said: "Thank you so much. Congratulations everyone involved in the wonderful Malaysian mafia comedy series Keluarga Baha Don. Love you guys, and see you next season two."

Some of her celebrity friends also congratulated her.

"So proud of you Jihan!" said television host and actress Fara Fauzana.

"Congrats Jihan! Great job!" said actress Nad Zainal.

"Tahniah Jihan! Keep it up!" said comedienne and television host Sherry Alhadad.

In a news report today, Jihan said that she was surprised to hear of her "first international win" by her management company LOL Entertainment.

"It's my biggest achievement thus far as an actress, host and comedienne. It'll spur me to do better in future," she said.

The winners of each category in the AAA are judged as the best comedians in their respective countries, and there are 35 categories in the annual awards.

They will receive their awards in a ceremony held at the Victoria Theatre, Singapore in December. Fifteen countries are participating in the awards.

Jihan began her acting career when she participated in the comedy challenge Raja Lawak in 2009, and finished second.

She has since starred in six films and more than 30 telemovies and drama series.

She won Popular Female Comedian at the Anugerah Bintang Popular Berita Harian 2013 and Best Female Comedian at the Anugerah Lawak Warna 2015.
