#Showbiz: Umie Aida thankful to have Blacky guarding her home

KUALA LUMPUR: While there was a Malay celebrity who courted controversy recently for posing with a dog, award-winning actress Datin Seri Umie Aida attracted a different reaction with her own hound story.

The 46-year-old artiste revealed that she has had a dog guarding her house since last year.

“Blacky is actually a stray dog. I fed her and she became attached to me. However, she seems to understand her limits with me, never walking past the gate into the compound even when it is left opened,” she wrote in the caption accompanying a video which she shared on her Instagram yesterday.

The video shows Blacky burying her dead offspring.

Umie said that Blacky had earlier given birth to a puppy but the young one had died.

“Last night, Blacky came by carrying the lifeless body of her pup. With a forlorn expression on her face, it looked as if she wanted my help to bury the puppy.”

Umie said: “I can’t imagine how heart-broken Blacky must have felt. Even animals show their emotions when faced with a loss. But look at how some of us treat our own flesh and blood.”

Her posting received more than 28,000 likes and many expressed their sympathy towards Blacky.

Umie and her husband of nine years Datuk Seri Khairuddin Abu Hassan, recently adopted a three-month-old baby girl named Nur Aisya.

The Dukun star also has two adopted sons — Mohd Daniel Firdaus, 26, and Mohd Dzulhilmi, 25.
