#Showbiz: 'Aquaman' director James Wan marries actress Ingrid Bisu

KUALA LUMPUR: After over 10 months of being engaged to actress Ingrid Bisu, Kuching-born filmmaker James Wan has finally tied the knot.

The 42-year-old Australian director recently posted a photo of himself together with his Romanian-German bride on his Instagram account to announce the good news.

He captioned it with: "One ring (I mean two) to rule them all. No fuss. At home with our doggies as witnesses. Yaaayyyy!!”

It was reported that Bisu, 31, had also shared the same photo on her Facebook account with a succinct post that read, "Officially married!!!"

She has since changed her name to Ingrid Wan to reflect her new status.

Bisu, who is apparently fluent in English, French, German and Latin, is also known for starring in the comedy drama Toni Erdmann (2016), which was nominated at the Cannes Film Festival for the Palme d'Or award in 2017.

Although Wan, a director, producer and screenwriter, did not disclose how they had met, he produced The Nun (2018) in which she had a role as Sister Oana.

The talented filmmaker is known for his highly-successful string of horror, action and superhero movies, having directed Saw (2004), Insidious (2010) and The Conjuring (2013), as well as the Hollywood blockbusters, Furious 7 (2015) and Aquaman (2018).

Both Furious 7 and Aquaman had grossed over USD1 billion (about RM4.13 billion) each at the box office.

Wan, whose family migrated to Perth, Western Australia when he was seven, announced last September that he would be helming a horror movie titled Malignant, which he co-wrote with Bisu.

The movie will be his 10th feature to date and is expected to be released in August next year.
