KUALA LUMPUR: Businessman Datuk Seri Adnan Abu a.k.a. Datuk Red is heaving a sigh of relief.
In an Instastory post yesterday, Adnan, 40, claimed that his estranged wife, popular singer Adira Suhaimi who had earlier filed for divorce, was now having "second thoughts" about ending their marriage.
Expressing delight that their marriage "had been saved" Adnan said: "Adira nak tarik balik penceraian itu. Adira rasa anak-anak tak nak cerai."
(Adira wants to rescind the divorce, she feels that it would not be good for the children).
The 28-year-old Akademi Fantasia Season 8 runner-up filed for divorce at the Gombak Barat Syariah Lower Court in Rawang on April 1.
Her application was made under Section 47 of the Islamic Family Enactment Law (Selangor) 2003.
Adnan however rejected the application.
It was reported on Nov 7 that Adira had vowed to fight for the custody of her three children with Adnan.
"My three children are still small and I've never been away from them, even for a night.
“I didn’t simply get pregnant and deliver my babies just so I could give them up. Whatever it is I will fight for their custody,” said Adira.
Syariah Judge Mohd Faizal Habib set Dec 17 for the case to be mentioned.
Adira and Adnan were married in Songkhla, Thailand on Dec 3, 2015. They have three children Anggrek, Asan and Anggun.
Adnan is also married to another woman with whom he has five children.
