KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Zee Avi is pleasantly surprised that her hit song Kantoi, released a decade ago, has suddenly gained popularity among the youths in Indonesia.
“The Indonesian teens are suddenly discovering the song, which is so nice. Everyday there’ll be someone doing a cover (and share it on social media),” she said in a news report today.
In the interview, the Sarawak-born artiste admitted that she had no idea how Kantoi suddenly became popular now.
“I don’t know may be it’s because of TikTok or something...,” said the pint-sized singer. (TikTok is a popular social media video app for creating and sharing short lip-sync, comedy, and talent videos).
“I admit Kantoi which came out 10 years ago is far more popular than I am. It’s interesting to see that it has a following over there,” she added.
