KUALA LUMPUR: Actress, dancer, businesswoman and philanthropist Priyanka Chopra may not be as "big" a name in Bollywood as Salman Khan, but she has become its most sought-after celebrity for 2019.
Indian news portal UP News Info reported yesterday that the 37-year-old wife of American singer-actor Nick Jonas has been named as Bollywood's most popular celebrity online by American-based survey agency SEMrush.
SEMrush's survey, conducted over a year beginning October 2018, revealed that Chopra recorded 4.2 million searches, as compared to her closest competitor, Salman who had 2 million searches.
When Chopra and Jonas got married on Dec 1 last year, more than 13.6 million people searched for her name.
Besides Chopra and Salman, Shah Rukh Khan and the late Amrish Puri took the third and fourth spot in the list of Bollywood stars respectively.
Deepika Padukone was the second most sought-after Bollywood actress with 3 million searches, followed by Sunny Leone who had 1.7 million searches.
Other major names from Bollywood who made onto the list, though far behind Chopra, Salman, Shah Rukh, Amrish and Padukone, were Katrina Kaif, Ranveer Singh and Amitabh Bachchan.
