#Showbiz: 'Ip Man 4' marks Donnie Yen's last kung fu film?

KUALA LUMPUR: Popular Hong Kong actor Donnie Yen has revealed shocking news that his upcoming Ip Man movie will be his last kung fu role.

But fans can let out a sigh of relief though as the 56-year-old star, who is known for his physical and fighting roles, also confessed that he would still be doing action movies.

Yen said: "Ip Man 4: The Finale is my last kung fu film. But don’t misunderstand. This doesn’t mean I’ll stop acting in action films.”

“Kung fu films are action films. But action films are not kung fu films. That’s a fact,” said Yen in a news report yesterday.

The hunky celebrity who is also a martial arts practitioner, film director, producer and action choreographer, was in town to promote Ip Man 4: The Finale.

Thrilled to be back in Malaysia, he said: “I’m very happy to be given the opportunity to return to Malaysia once again and to be able to meet fans in this beautiful country.”

Also present was his co-star Danny Chan Kwok Kwan, who plays the legendary Bruce Lee in the film, together with producer Raymond Wong and scriptwriter Edmond Wong.

Yen and Chan later attended a special fan meet session at Suria KLCC.

On his official Instagram account, Yen posted a message today that read: “Hello Malaysia! Apa khabar? So honoured to be the first Chinese artist to hold an event last night inside this iconic architecture! And what a turnout! Thank you Malaysian fans who waited from morning to see me! Love you all!”

Ip Man 4: The Finale, which is directed by Wilson Yip, will premiere in cinemas nationwide on Dec 20.
