KUALA LUMPUR: With today being the 47th anniversary of the passing of Malaysia's "greatest showman", Enfiniti Group has put up its hit stage musical on the late Tan Sri P. Ramlee online.
The online streaming of the original production of "P. Ramlee - The Musical" is also part of Enfiniti supporting the #StaySafeSafeHome campaign as the world battles the Covid-19 pandemic.
In a statement, Enfiniti said it is inviting all Malaysians to celebrate the life of P. Ramlee, the supreme genius, by going down memory lane through Pulau Pinang, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur of the 50s, 60s and 70s.
"From the music, sets and way of life, you will experience his life through the eyes of his three wives Junaidah, Noorizan and Saloma and his muse and first love, Azizah," Enfiniti said.
Meanwhile, Puan Sri Tiara Jacquelina of Enfiniti Group remarked how she was glad to have embarked on the adventure of producing the show more than 10 years ago.
"The people of my generation and the generations after me may have completely missed on discovering the greatness of P. Ramlee. Why is he considered a Malaysian icon, a National Pride, a Legend?
"On behalf of my fellow Malaysian artistes, creators and songwriters, I felt compelled to produce this show in tribute to this brilliant man and his consummate talent.
"I am so glad I did, so that my children and the next generations will know who and what shaped such a big part of our history, the Malaysian entertainment industry and our culture," Tiara said.
The show features Sean Ghazi as P. Ramlee, Liza Hanim as Saloma, Melissa Saila as Noorizan, Atilia Haron as Junaidah, Douglas Lim and Colin Kirton as The Shaw Brothers and more, with a special appearance by Siti Nurhaliza as Azizah.
It was written by Adlin Aman Ramlie and co-directed by Adlin and Zahim Albakri, with music composed by Singapore's Dick Lee and orchestral arrangements by Indonesia's Erwin Gutawa.
