#Showbiz: Aliff Syukri to buy Kedah FA football team?

KUALA LUMPUR: Cosmetics entrepreneur, singer and actor Datuk Seri Aliff Syukri Kamarzaman's apparent desire to purchase the Kedah FA football team (KFA) has been well received by Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.

Muhammad Sanusi, who is also president of KFA, had said that they welcomed wealthy individuals who were interested in the team to discuss with the top management.

"We certainly welcome those with financial resources to negotiate with KFA on the matter of them wanting to purchase or sponsor the Kedah team, we will consider it.

"If he is interested, he can come and meet me for discussions," he said in a recent news report.

He added that at the moment there were negotiations taking place with a few interested parties including one company that has made a good offer to manage the team together.

Muhammad Sanusi explained that they would consider the best option for the Kedah team.

"The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has also advised us not to take up any offers that would lead to losses, so we will be following this suggestion."

It was previously reported that Aliff had chosen the Kedah team since his wife was born in the northern state.

He was also narrowing his choice for a team based on the main criteria that it must have a large number of supporters that were also influential.

"If possible I'd want to buy the Kedah team. If it was JDT (the Johor team) I wouldn't be able to afford it. I feel like these are the only ones with the most influence," he said.

In 2016, the successful entrepreneur and star of Badang had the intention to sponsor the team but his negotiations with KFA did not pan out.
