KUALA LUMPUR: Popular Japanese actor Akira Kubodera who had starred in Kamen Rider and Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon has died at age 43.
News reports stated that the actor was found in a comatose state in his apartment in Tokyo last Friday and was declared dead after arriving at a hospital.
A preliminary police investigation has showed that Kubodera committed suicide.
His death was confirmed by his agency in a statement released last Saturday.
The statement said that the actor's unexpected death had affected his family and friends who had yet to come to terms with his passing.
It added that the agency was still trying to get more details on his tragic death and has requested for the media not to hound his family.
Kubodera was married to actress Yuko Omori and they have a daughter.
