#Showbiz: Nora Danish reminds dispatch riders to contribute to Socso for loved ones

KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Nora Danish salutes the country's hard-working dispatch riders who deliver food to families in the new normal.

Describing these motorcyclists as unsung heroes, the 38-year-old star of Polis Evo is also concerned about their families, and advises them to start saving money in the Social Security Organisation (Socso), should tragedy befall them.

Nora shared a new Socso public service announcement (PSA) on her Instagram account yesterday, and it depicted the life of a dispatch rider, Acap who refused to open a Socso account despite the urgings of his pregnant wife Liya and his best friend Mael.

Acap, played by award-winning actor Beto Kusyairy, procrastinated in opening a Socso account, and only decided to do so after Mael became paralysed in a road accident.

On the day Liya gave birth to their child, Acap made his way to the Socso headquarters, but sadly, he was knocked down by a car before he could reach his destination.

In the caption to the PSA, Nora said: "This is a good message from a good friend for a good reason.

"Our dispatch riders have high-risk jobs whizzing along roads from dawn to dusk.

"It's important to invest in Socso, because tragedy can strike at any time.

"So dear dispatch riders, think of your loved ones and imagine how things would be if you are incapacitated or gone.

"We customers love you for what you do, and we hope you'll care for your families by getting in touch with Socso."

Nora advised dispatch riders to "stay strong and be safe on the road".

"We all depend on you guys, so always observe safety at work."

Netizens lauded Nora for sharing the Socso PSA.

"It's a touching and real story. Thanks a million Nora. Great acting by Beto and friends," said Khairil.

"Love it, Nora. It speaks to all, and Beto makes Acap real," said Haliza.

Beto also thanked Nora for sharing the PSA. He said: "Thanks Nora. It's a timely reminder for us, not just dispatch riders. We must do the necessary."
