#Showbiz: Msian film highlights tales of hope during MCO

KUALA LUMPUR: As the Covid-19 pandemic rages on, local movie fans can watch a new film, Kerana Korona, at home which is set during the MCO of the coronavirus outbreak.

Directed by Kabir Bhatia, the Astro Shaw-produced film features three intertwined storylines that will premiere tomorrow on Astro First, Astro Go and On Demand.

The dramatic stories of hope and perseverance are brought to life oncreen by Rita Rudaini, Rashidi Ishak, Ummi Nazeera, Shasha Abedul, Datuk Jalaludin Hassan, Fatimah Abu Bakar, Idan Aedan, Umar Shakur and Anwaar Beg Moghal.

Vice President, Head of Astro Shaw and Nusantara, Raja Jastina Raja Arshad said that Kerana Korona would be the first film produced by Astro Shaw this year that was specially for screening in "your own home cinema".

"Last year was a very challenging year for everyone and we understand that each person would have had their very own stories. So Astro Shaw took inspiration from the MCO backdrop to produce a film that highlights the various tales and conflicts that mirrors the happenings in our society.

"Interestingly, this type of story has not been filmed before. We hope that Kerana Korona will be able to remind viewers that although we are going through a hard time, we should always be grateful for all of the people around us.

"Especially our beloved families since everyone would be going through their own trials and tribulations.

"Seeing that most Malaysians are currently having to undergo the MCO once again, we felt that this was the right time to have a film with this theme to help viewers pass time by watching with their families as they stay at home," she said in a news report today.

One of the stories in Kerana Korona revolves around Zati (played by Rita) and Razman (Rashidi) who despite having to be at home together are not happy and getting increasingly distant.

Their aspiring photographer son Harun (Idan Aedan) secretly goes out during the MCO to be with a girl in order to escape his parents' arguments.

Another tale involves a doctor named Janna (Ummi Nazeera) who is forced to face a difficult decision involving her responsibility and principles.

The third narrative follows a stubborn elderly man Leman (Jalaluddin) who disregards the SOP and his lonely neighbour Leila (Fatimah Abu Bakar).
