#Showbiz: Fattah Amin wins Best Actor award at WFC Singapore

KUALA LUMPUR: Popular actor Fattah Amin was named Best Actor for his role in the horror movie Mimaland at the recent World Film Carnival (WFC) Singapore 2021 event.

The good news was announced on the website of WFC Singapore 2021.

The 30-year-old artiste said that he was surprised by the unexpected honour.

"I was informed of the win by my management. It was very surprising for me to see my name as the winner in the Best Male Actor category. It was truly unexpected.

"Honestly, there is still so much for me to learn in the realm of acting. This is not the best.

"However, I accept this win as rezeki since this is the first time in my career that I've gained international recognition," he said in a news report yesterday.

The actor added that this would motivate him to work hard towards improving his craft.

"The great thing about this award is that it was evaluated by a professional jury rather than popular votes," he said.

Last month, it was reported that Mimaland had won Best Horror Film and Best Director (for its director Nevin Hiong) awards at the AltFF Alternative Film Festival Spring 2021 in Toronto, Canada.

Talking about his character in the supernatural thriller, Fattah said that the role of Ariel was very different and needed emotional heft.

"This is my first horror film. The big challenge was for me to play with the emotional aspect and to have a strong understanding of the character.

"Aside from that, being a scary movie, a lot of the filming was done at night and in the forest.

"Mystical disturbances during the shoot became another challenge that we had to endure while making this film," he said.
