#Showbiz: 'Playing a corpse traumatised me' - Ogy Ahmad Daud

KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Fauziah Ahmad Daud or Ogy will never forget the day she had to be put into a mortuary cabinet for the film Esok Untuk Siapa.

The 59-year-old artiste said that in the 1982 film directed by the late Tan Sri Jins Shamsuddin, her character Intan fell into the long bath in her bungalow, after overdosing on drugs and alcohol, and subsequently drowned.

"Intan and her husband Ehsan, played by the late Latif Ibrahim, both overdosed and drowned.

"Jins filmed us 'dead' in the long bath, and after that we were told to become 'bodies' in a mortuary cabinet at Kuala Lumpur Hospital," said Fauziah in a news report today.

Fauziah, then 20, added that she was terrified after seeing a real body being placed into the cabinet.

"When Jins said 'get in there', I knew that he would not take 'no' for an answer. So in I went and spent a good 30 minutes in the cold, dark cabinet," she said.

"I heared humming noises in my ears throughout my 'stay' in the freezing cabinet, and when I got out, I developed a week-long fever. I was traumatised."

Esok Untuk Siapa won Best Screenplay at the 1982 Malaysian Film Festival.

On another note, Fauziah said that she was happy to fulfil her late singer-actor father Datuk Ahmad Daud's wish to become a teacher.

"He did not want me to follow his footsteps at first, and preferred me to become a teacher like my great-grandfather," she said.

"But today, I have finally become a teacher, as the founder of my two-year-old company, Ogy's Centrestage & Academy."

Fauziah's academy trains aspiring actors and actresses, and gives them an in-depth understanding of what is required to become a success on the silver screen.

"Good acting must always come from the heart and soul, it is not merely delivering your lines. A good actor or actress must have passion and dedication," she said.

Fauziah also said that she had kept in touch with her ex-husband, veteran actor Eman Manan, even though they last met 16 years ago.

"We remain good friends, he also gets along great with my adopted daughter Nur Aishah Aminah," she said.

Fauziah and Eman were married from 1990 to 2003. She adopted Nur Aishah, now 14, in 2008.
