#Showbiz: Abiding by her husband's wishes, Ellie Suriaty gets vaccinated

KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Ellie Suriaty Omar admitted that she has finally taken her two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine as per the request of her husband, fellow actor Azri Iskandar.

In a news report today, the 52-year-old artiste said that she had taken the first dose in October last year and the second dose the following month.

"I took Sinovac, the vaccine Khairy Jamaluddin took too. If anything, I'd follow what our Health Minister has taken, right?"

Ellie also added that the acting offer in Sarawak she received recently only came after she had been inoculated against the coronavirus.

"Vaccinated or not, nobody wants to be infected. I didn't get infected simply because I had been careful about getting myself exposed," she said.

Ellie insisted that her reluctance to get vaccinated earlier was not because she was an anti-vaxxer, but rather because she felt concern about the vaccines which were developed in such a hurry.

"At the end of the day, I also didn't want to disobey my husband, who had given me ample time to think it over."

Previously, Ellie was among some local celebrities who were vocal against vaccination.

Meanwhile, Azri himself had been vaccinated without her knowledge in September last year.
