#Showbiz: Angry with producers, Adi Putra refuses to attend 'Mat Kilau' screening in Jakarta

KUALA LUMPUR: Mat Kilau star Datuk Adi Putra Abdul Halim, 41, is seeing red with the blockbuster film's producers Kembara Studio Sdn Bhd after unsuccessfully trying to contact them several times.

The company's failure to respond to the Singapore-born actor concerning plans to promote Mat Kilau in Indonesia resulted in Adi sending them a "rebuke" on Instagram yesterday.

In his message, Adi remarked that he was prepared to provide Kembara Studio with an extra handphone as they were uncontactable.

He also said that he would not be attending the gala premiere of Mat Kilau in Jakarta on Aug 31.

Adi's message read: "Dear Kembara Studio, I feel that you do not have sufficient handphones, as it is hard for me to contact you.

"I am willing to provide you with an extra handphone so that you can contact your team members better.

"Apologies for relaying this message on social media. Sorry that I won't be attending Mat Kilau's gala premiere in Jakarta."

Adi's Mat Kilau co-star Johan As'ari expressed "solidarity" with him.

Johan said: "If Abang Kilau can't attend the premiere in Jakarta, Yassin (Johan's character in the film) won't attend either."

Other Netizens expressed disappointment with Kembara Studio, and urged the company to "be serious" about promoting Mat Kilau in Indonesia.

Directed by Syamsul Yusof, Mat Kilau, or Mat Kilau: Kebangkitan Pahlawan, premiered in Malaysian cinemas on June 23 and has collected close to RM100 million at the box office to date.
