#Showbiz: MPO to thrill in Halloween and Nutcracker ballet concerts

KUALA LUMPUR: In conjunction with Halloween this month the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra will be serenading music fans with ghoulish tunes during the Halloween Spooktacular concert at the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas (DFP) on Oct 29.

Resident conductor Naohisa Furusawa will be helming the MPO to present a creepy repertoire of compositions that include Mark Snow's X-Files Main Theme, Andrew Llyod Webber's Phantom Of The Opera, Jerry Goldsmith's Poltergeist: The Calling and many more.

Music connoisseurs who prefer a more cultured and classical production must not miss out on catching Tchaikovsky's endearing festive favourite, The Nutcracker.

Furusawa will return to the conductor's podium to lead the MPO to take listeners to the Land of Sweets with Clara and her prince in the ballet concert at the DFP on Nov 5.

From the enchanting Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy to exotic offerings from around the world, the music of Tchaikovsky's beloved ballet evokes winter wonders and the joys of the holiday season.

The concert will also feature ballet performances from Ballet Theatre Malaysia.

Tickets to the two concerts, priced from RM168 to RM308, can be purchased at https://www.mpo.com.my/2022season .
