#Showbiz: Farid Kamil to play Anwar in PKR leader's first biopic

KUALA LUMPUR: Remp-It 2 star Farid Kamil will be playing his first non-fiction character on the big screen, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim soon.

The joint Indonesian-Malaysian production titled Jalan Masih Panjang (Far From The End) will also star Indonesian actress Acha Septriasa as Anwar's wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

The film also stars Hasnul Rahmat as former Prime Minister and Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) head Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

A Netizen identified as @madmarquez tweeted yesterday that the Anwar biopic would zoom in on Anwar's political journey, from student leader and youth activist, to Cabinet Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and Opposition leader.

"This is an interesting biopic about one of Malaysia's most colourful politicians who is participating in the coming general election. Anwar is the man who rose to become a minister, was sacked and jailed, but made a comeback as an opposition leader. His story does feel like the plot of a movie!" said @madmarquez.

PKR candidate for Kangar, Perlis, Amin Ahmad also tweeted news of the biopic.

"I've known about this project since 2018. May the film be a success. Let's all wait for Jalan Masih Panjang," he said.

Jalan Masih Panjang is produced by Bianglala Entertainment and directed by Viva Westi. Filming is currently taking place in Indonesia and Malaysia.
