#Showbiz: Fauziah Nawi thrilled to receive keys to her Mitsubishi Xpander

KUALA LUMPUR: "In the 50 years I've been in the entertainment industry, I've never received even a Best Actress award, let alone win a car," says veteran actress Fauziah Nawi.

She added that she was more than grateful to be bestowed with the Tokoh Seri Angkasa award recently, which also came with RM10,000 cash and a Mitsubishi Xpander.

"This gift is just timely, as I do not have a car now," she told reporters when met at EON Auto Mart in Jalan Ampang here earlier today.

The 69-year-old artiste was at the outlet to receive the vehicle from DRB-Hicom, the automobile sponsor for the prize that came along with the award she won at the recent Anugerah Seri Angkasa.

Affectionately known as Ibu to many in the local entertainment scene, she said that the seven-seater crossover would be handy in ferrying her family around, as well as carrying all her costumes when she goes filming.

"With such a huge car, it's easy now to fit everything," said Fauziah, whose last car was a Proton Waja she purchased in 2007, but was razed by fire a few years ago.

Asked if she would sell this car, in order to get one which is smaller, which could be easier for her to drive around, she said she would not.

"Why would I sell this, when I had been working hard in order to save up to buy a car?

"This car is perfect. Besides, I don't need to drive it myself. I'll be chauffeured around in it by my manager like a real madam," she joked.

Fauziah was handed the keys to her new car by Mahmood Razak Bahman, DRB-Hicom's head of group strategic communications; and Akhbar Danial, its head of automative distribution and Edaran Otomobil Nasional's CEO.

Mahmood said DRB-Hicom, through its subsidiary Eon, was honoured to be a part of the prestigious Anugerah Seri Angkasa 2022 and given the opportunity to support the local creative talents.
