#Showbiz: 6 recipients get grants from Krishen Jit Fund

KUALA LUMPUR: Six arts practitioners have been chosen as this year's grantees for the Krishen Jit Fund.

Astro, in collaboration with Creador Foundation and Five Arts Centre awarded the six grants totalling RM57,000, ranging between RM5,000 and RM15,000.

In a press statement today, the recipients, whose works come under creative productions, received the grants at an event held at Temu-Temu Space at GMBB in Petaling Jaya recently.

Out of a total of 62 applications, the grants which will help them pursue their love of the arts, went to visual artist Taha Long, filmmaker Deepak Kumaran Menon, performing artist Dylan Yeo Kok Siong, table-top game creator Goh Choon Ean, graphic designer Low Hsin Yin and aspiring filmmaker Vesant Nair.

This time around, the outstanding grantees have presented a variety of immersive performances which include an anthology of eight short films, a stage play, a publication, a table-top game and a family/drama short film.

The fund is administered and managed by Five Arts Centre.

Grants are given for training, workshops, attachments or residencies, experimental productions, writing, or creating new work in music, dance, theatre, film, visual or performance art.

From 2006 to 2021, the Krishen Jit Fund has given out a total of 78 grants amounting to RM569,000.
