PUTRAJAYA: The drama series "Suamiku Lelaki Pendosa" took home four awards at the tonton Anugerah Drama Sangat 2023 last night.
The drama, produced by Global Station Sdn Bhd won Best Antagonist Actor (Gambit Saifullah), Best Actor (Datuk Aaron Aziz), Best Director (Eyra Rahman) and Best Drama awards.
While the drama touched on the taboo subject of homosexuality, producer Alia Ramly said it did not aim to glorify it, but rather to highlight a scenario that exists in society.
"After seeing the script, I know we needed to get guidelines from the religious authority, so we were lucky to be guided by the Islamic Development Department Malaysia (Jakim).
"The message from the drama was clear: Every sinner has the chance to repent," Alia told reporters after the awards show concluded.
The tonton Anugerah Drama Sangat 2023 awards show was held at Putrajaya International Convention Centre here last night.
A total of 15 awards were up for grabs, with 10 judged for the best category and five voted by fans for popular awards.
Among the awards were Best Drama, Popular Drama, Best Actor, Best Actress, and tonton's Choice of Oppa.
The awards show was also broadcast live on TV3.
