#Showbiz: British hit thriller 'Liar' arrives in Malaysia on March 25

KUALA LUMPUR: British hit drama Liar is heading to Malaysia next week.

With 12 hour-long episodes every Saturday at midnight on Astro On Demand beginning March 25 and Astro Ria at 9pm on Mondays starting April 3, it is produced by Astro Shaw in collaboration with Double Vision and All3Media International.

Originally produced by Two Brothers Pictures, the series created by Harry and Jack Williams garnered 7 million viewers in the United Kingdom when it premiered five years ago. It has since been adapted in India, Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Greece and Turkey, and was nominated for the BAFTA (British Academy Film Awards) awards.

Astro Shaw head Raja Jastina Raja Arshad said that Liar was a gripping story that explored gender politics, sexual harassment, mental health and deceit.

"It is about two people forced to deal with the consequences of their actions following an unpleasant incident.

"One deceived the other, but both of them are not what they seem, likewise the other major characters," she said at the launch of the series in TGV Cinema, One Utama, Petaling Jaya yesterday.

The series stars Tiz Zaqyah, Tony Eusoff, Ezzaty Abdullah, Datuk Jalaluddin Hassan, Wan Raja, Nadiya Nisaa and Atilia Haron among others.

The series' executive producer and director Lim Siu Min said: "Liar gives viewers a compelling and educational drama that focuses on female voices and highlights the trauma of victims of sexual crimes."
