KUALA LUMPUR: Celebrity couple Syafiq Kyle and Mimi Lana have cancelled their wedding ceremony scheduled for next Friday.
The couple's manager, Iman Tang, confirmed the unexpected matter in a brief message to the guests.
"The management and I would like to announce that the wedding ceremony and reception of Mimi Roziana and Muhammad Syafiq Shamim scheduled for Aug 18, 2023, at Puncak Rimba, Bentong, Pahang, is cancelled due to unavoidable circumstances.
"We apologise for any inconvenience," read the message sent to guests today.
The couple's nikah ceremony was to have been held in the morning at Puncak Rimba, while the reception would have taken place in the evening in the garden.
The cancellation was perplexing, seeing that Mimi had recently celebrated a 'bachelorette' ceremony.
Tang explained that Mimi had told him about the cancellation two days ago.
"She met me two days ago to inform me that her wedding had to be cancelled at the last minute.
"The cancellation was due to Mimi's tight filming schedule, aside from several things that needed to be resolved with Syafiq.
"When I heard the news, I was really surprised. But I knew that Mimi had just arrived on the filming set.
"Mimi then asked me to send a cancellation message to the guests who had RSVP'd to me before," he said in a news report today.
When asked if the couple was facing a personal crisis, Tang said that there was nothing of the sort.
"I had also asked the same thing with Mimi, but their relationship is fine.
"All the latest developments regarding the ceremony, including the new date, will be announced later," he said.
On Jan 21, Mimi, 27, uploaded a photo on her Instagram account, which was believed to be her engagement ceremony with Syafiq, 31.
Before this, the couple had broken up in May 2020 after five years of being together. Still, they reconnected after the two began sharing photos of themselves together on social media.
