#Showbiz: Alif Satar welcomes return of National Service

KUALA LUMPUR: The government's recent announcement about bringing back National Service for youths has been welcomed by multi-talented Alif Satar who once participated in the programme.

The 33-year-old singer, actor, television host and entrepreneur said that the move would be good for enhancing national unity and building self-confidence, resilience, discipline and teamwork amongst Malaysian youths.

"It will be good to have National Service once again after a five-year hiatus. I would suggest that its activities be enhanced with swimming, cycling and running. Youths would love it!" said Alif in an Instagram post yesterday.

"I loved my time in National Service back in 2009. I learnt so much in a short time and made great friends. We bonded like one big Malaysian family."

Alif underwent his three-month National Service stint at Kem Princess Haliza in Sepang, Selangor in 2009.

He was joined by fellow singer and One In A Million 1 winner Suki Low and actress Diana Danielle.

National Service was introduced in 2002 by the then Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad but was scrapped in 2018 during Dr Mahathir's second premiership.
