KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Azmir Saifuddin Mutalib has officially assumed the position of chief executive officer (CEO) at the National Film Development Corporation (Finas) today.
In a statement released by Finas yesterday, it was announced that Azmir's tenure will last for two years, commencing on Nov 1, 2023, and concluding on Oct 31, 2025.
Azmir, a graduate in computing from Sheffield Hallam University in the United Kingdom, previously served as Deputy Director-General at Finas from January 2017 to 2019.
He began his career at the Creative Multimedia division at the Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and later held the position of managing director at Base FX.
Leveraging his extensive expertise and experience, Finas has expressed confidence in Azmir's ability to lead the country's film industry to new heights.
He has been appointed to fill the position left vacant by his predecessor, Prof Dr Md Nasir Ibrahim, whose tenure concluded on June 1.
