#Showbiz: MPTN, Primeworks Studios continues successful cooperation with Finas

THE bilateral cooperation between Media Prima Television Networks (MPTN) via Primeworks Studios and the National Film Development Corporation (Finas) will be an ongoing affair following a successful collaboration spanning three years.

MPTN and Primeworks Studios chief executive officer (CEO) Nini Yusof said the Digital Content Fund (DKD) scheme under Finas has been a great help for a selection of eligible producers to create suitable drama content for streaming on the broadcasting station's digital platform.

"We would like to thank Finas for the collaboration with MPTN that has enabled Tonton to have a variety of programmes.

"This DKD grant provided by Finas, which has an allocation of about RM10 million, has been distributed to a selection of producers and productions to come up with suitable and quality content to be streamed on Tonton," she said.

Nini added that the DKD grant by Finas also provided opportunities for producers and new productions that had not collaborated with MPTN before.

"The products from these productions that received the grant were very well made and had the storylines and commercial value that were suitable for Tonton.

"We were also able to find many fresh talent and new productions to work with, so we are ready to continue the bilateral cooperation with Finas for other projects," she said.

Nini and several representatives of MPTN recently made a formal visit to Kompleks Studio Merdeka in Ampang, Selangor, to meet Finas CEO Datuk Azmir Saifuddin Mutalib to discuss the new collaboration between the broadcasting station and the government agency.

During the visit, Nini and representatives of her entourage were taken on a tour of the Finas library called Mediatheque.

Azmir said the session was a good move in order for all involved to further work together to empower the entertainment industry by facilitating the production of the best creative products.

"We at Finas are very pleased to continue our collaboration with MPTN as a strategic partner in business, following the previous success that we have achieved together.

"We hope to continue this fruitful endeavour with the production of new programmes in the future.

"I can also see the emergence of new talent and new crucial productions in the industry, which include the creation of quality programmes," he said.

In 2020, a meeting between Finas and Media Prima Berhad resulted in an agreement to establish a committee to help Finas identify deserving and eligible productions with clean records that would be able to produce dramas and films with the help of the DKD scheme.
