#Showbiz: Miji of Cromok fame battling Stage 4 liver cancer

KUALA LUMPUR: Former drummer of Cromok, local thrash metal band popular in the 1990s, Tarmizi Mokhtar a.k.a. Miji has been hospitalised due to Stage 4 liver cancer.

News of him getting treatment was shared by his former bandmate, guitarist Karl on Facebook yesterday.

He wrote: "Let's pray for the well-being of our friend Tarmizi Mokhtar, who is battling liver cancer.

"Let us also pray for God to grant Miji's family and friends patience and strength for them during this trying time."

Last October, at Cromok Forever in Time 30th Anniversary Live concert at Zepp Kuala Lumpur, the band announced Miji's departure from the band due to his health.

He was at the concert, but instead of being on stage, he was only there to show his support for his former bandmates.

Miji and Karl were the original Cromok members who formed the band in 1987, with Sam (vocals, bass) and Din (vocals, guitar) when they were students at University of Wollongong in Sydney, Australia.
