#Showbiz: NewJeans, Jisoo, BTS receives awards at MAMA 2023

KUALA LUMPUR: In the dazzling spotlight of the recent Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) 2023 held at Tokyo Dome in Japan, South Korean female group NewJeans, along with Blackpink's Jisoo and the globally acclaimed BTS, emerged as shining stars.

The event showcased a celebration of musical excellence. It brought together some of the most prominent names in the Asian music industry.

In a news report today, NewJeans were awarded trophies for Artist of the Year, Best Female Group, Song of the Year, and Best Dance Performance (Female Group) through the band's music video for the song Ditto.

Ditto recorded an impressive achievement when it was streamed over 400 million times and was a Billboard 200 chart topper within a year of the group's debut.

Meanwhile, Jisoo received the Best Female Artiste, Best Dance Performance (Female Solo) for her song Flower, and Best Music Video (also for Flower) awards.

While BTS won Best OST for The Planet, its member Jungkook won Best Collaboration for Seven, which features Latto, and Best Dance Performance (Male Solo) through Seven.

Another BTS member, Jimin, was named the Best Male Artist.

BTS also took home the main award, Samsung Galaxy Worldwide Icon of the Year (for the sixth time in a row), and one of the 10 acts that received the Worldwide Fans'Fans' Choice awards.

MAMA 2023 was streamed live on Tonton via tvN.
