KUALA LUMPUR: Local animation company Monsta released its latest series BoBoiBoy Galaxy SORI on Sunday.
The first episode, which premiered on Monsta's official YouTube channel, recorded 3.5 million views within 24 hours of its release.
"During the live premiere of BoBoiBoy Galaxy SORI on Monsta's YouTube channel, over 100,000 viewers eagerly tuned in in real time.
"To help you picture it, the amount of viewers had even surpassed the maximum capacity of the Bukit Jalil National Stadium, which accommodates 85,000 spectators," said Monsta's director of marketing and sales, Faiz Zainal Aabidin in a recent statement.
He added that the iconic local superhero character's popularity had reached unprecedented heights.
"BoBoiBoy has been around for 12 years. Those who grew up with him are now adults and parents themselves.
"We proudly refer to them as Generation-B (BoBoiBoy), a generation eager to share the thrills of new BoBoiBoy episodes with their children, whether on TV screens or via tablets and smartphones," said Faiz.
The hashtags #BoBoiBoy and #GelombangOren had also entered the Trending charts on X (formerly Twitter) in the days following the series premiere.
Currently streaming on Monsta's YouTube channel and Netflix, BoBoiBoy Galaxy SORI will also begin airing on TV9 at 6.30pm from Dec 13.
