#Showbiz: Good vibe song from Noraniza, Hazama

COMBINING winning elements from opposing music genres to create a spirit-lifting tune, Malaysian ethnic pop queen Noraniza Idris and rocker Hazama have collaborated on a new track, titled Penawar Kita.

The positive song that means "our cure" serves to present a balm during times of uncertainty and illustrate that opposites can indeed attract and work well together.

Rapper Luca Sickta, who produced the song, brings together traditional and modern elements that are synonymous with Noraniza and Hazama present a compelling musical dynamic.

According to Hazama, it was an interesting challenge and the 38-year-old artiste was game for it.

"I felt lucky to work with the legend of Irama Malaysia that is Noraniza Idris. The first time I got the call for this project, I immediately agreed to it.

"I have been a fan of Kak Ani since childhood and this project is my first time recording a song in the Irama Malaysia genre.

"If not for this project, I would not record this kind of a song since I'm known more for rock music. So I'm grateful for the opportunity," he said.

Penawar Kita, jointly published by Luncai Emas Sdn Bhd and NIPV Management Sdn Bhd, features lyrics written by music producer, singer and rapper Kmy Kmo based on Luca Sickta's musical concept.

Central to the tune is Noraniza who delivers a deep message through a moving vocal performance.

The lyrics take listeners on a touching journey, where life's trials and challenges serve as practical lessons in understanding human relationships.

"When times change, especially for the worse, we all require good vibes and positivity.

"There's an emphasis for a need to be united and to find equilibrium in our lives," said Kmy Kmo.

Noraniza said she wanted the track to be a duet with a difference.

"After the music arrangement was ready, I made the suggestion for the song to be a duet with a new or active artiste whose voice would complement my vocals.

"It took a long time to review, but one day I had the opportunity to be involved in a programme with Hazama.

"From then on I kept thinking of him as duet partner and that was that," she said.

Fortunately, her proposal was welcomed by Hazama's management and the recording for the single took off smoothly.

Legendary singer-songwriter and music producer Datuk M. Nasir was also on hand as an advisor for the creation of the new single.

"I am honoured to have advice from Datuk (Nasir) a big name who is respected in the music industry," said Noraniza.

Penawar Kita is expected to appeal to listeners of all ages and provide a meaningful experience to them.

Noraniza and Hazama hope that the new track will be well accepted and serve as a powerful singalong for fans.

Penawar Kita is now available on all major music platforms from Spotify to Apple Music.

A music video of the song will be available on the Luncai Emas YouTube channel on Nov 10.
