#HEALTH: Keeping hands clean

IN line with Global Handwashing Day (GHD) on Oct 15, Lifebuoy launched its "C Untuk Cuci Tangan: Train the Trainers" programme to instil good handwashing habits among schoolchildren under Jabatan Kemajuan Masyarakat (KEMAS) institutions.

The purpose of the programme is to not only share good handwashing skills with teachers, but also enable them to pass on these skills to students.

Under this programme, Unilever Malaysia through Lifebuoy, partnered with Guardian to donate hygiene kits containing essential daily items such as Lifebuoy C Untuk Cuci Tangan Guidebook, Lifebuoy Antibacterial Handwash, bar soaps, and antibacterial wipes to Tabika KEMAS to promote good hand hygiene and help minimise the risk of infection among students.

To further cultivate effective handwashing habits among school children, Lifebuoy has partnered with schools to promote the fundamentals of hand hygiene from a child's earliest years with its Little Chief Education Officer (CEO) initiatives.

"Lifebuoy believes that explaining and instilling the importance of hand hygiene among children is the best approach to prevent the spread of infectious illnesses in schools," says Unilever Malaysia personal care Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand lead and head for Malaysia, Lenny Chuah.

Since the commencement of its outreach programmes in Malaysia in 2015, the brand has reached 536,113 kids aged 4 to 9.

"Driven by a larger purpose, we want to help 1 million people develop good hand washing habits by 2025," adds Chuah.
