Gleneagles Hospital Johor unveils nuclear medicine unit

JOHOR BARU: The inception of Gleneagles Hospital Johor's Nuclear Medicine Unit will significantly benefit patients by enabling early detection and diagnosis of diseases.

Gleneagles Hospital Johor (GHJ), known in the medical faculty as the leader in advanced healthcare solutions, invested almost RM40 million to acquire state-of-the-art Nuclear Medicine Unit.

GHJ chief executive officer Dr Kamal Amzan said the cutting-edge facility marks a significant milestone in the hospital's unwavering commitment to deliver exceptional care to patients while meeting the healthcare needs of local communities.

Patients requiring nuclear medicine imaging or therapy can now receive the necessary care, including early detection and diagnosis. This will allow them to get treatment immediately as it is a crucial factor in achieving positive health outcomes.

The unit is equipped with the latest technology and staffed by a team of highly skilled professionals, enabling precise diagnoses and effective treatment options, especially for Johoreans who sought treatment from neighbouring states and countries.

Now, Johor has a medical facility that will not only attract patients-in-need nationwide, but also contribute to the medical tourism sector.

"The establishment of the unit in Johor will help revolutionise healthcare accessibility by eliminating the need for patients to travel long distances and the associated expenses for specialised treatments," Dr Kamal said.

He said the Nuclear Medicine Unit has already proven its value in cancer detection. Cancer patients get expedited screenings and accurate diagnoses, enabling swift interventions and personalised treatment plans.

"At GHJ, our vision is to provide exceptional cancer care to our community.

"By integrating diagnostics and treatment, GHJ aims to transform the landscape of cancer care, ensuring that patients receive timely, advanced and compassionate care.

"This unit also contributes to the growth and development of the local healthcare ecosystem.

"By consolidating advanced medical technologies and expertise, GHJ is attracting skilled professionals to Johor, and creating employment opportunities," he added.
