Tourism Western Australia is urging international visitors to keep their travel plans to Western Australia, which has been unaffected by Australia’s recent devastating bushfires.
Visitors who have already booked, or are planning to travel to Western Australia, are encouraged to find out the most up-to-date information by going to www.australia.com/en/travel-alerts.html.
Tourism Western Australia country manager for Singapore and Malaysia, Ava Ang said that Western Australia remains a top holiday destination choice for Malaysian travellers with its world-class food scene, fresh produce and access to beaches and wineries all within an hour of the city centre.
“An incredible array of attractions and offerings that will excite travellers of all ages from day-to-night are currently available,” she continued.
Western Australia tourism minister, Paul Papalia commented that Western Australia is a unique and diverse state, one of the most desired destinations in Australia for international visitors.
“Australia is a huge country and it is tragic what is happening in some parts of Australia, but Western Australia is absolutely open for business.” he said.
The bushfires to the east of the country have attracted international attention which has led to an inaccurate perception that the whole of the country is affected.
In some cases, international media coverage has misrepresented the geographical reach of the fires. This coverage has not reflected that Australia is a very large country that is equivalent to the size of North America.
