#JOM! DO: New normal experience at home

JOM! Team!

THE global Covid-19 pandemic is changing the way we see the world, including travel.

As we continue to stay at home and live under the "new normal" circumstances, it doesn't mean we have to give up on traveling completely.

Thanks to the advancement of technology such as virtual reality (VR), you can now satisfy your wanderlust itch by joining these virtual tours (all thanks to Malaysia Virtual Experience or MyVXp).

MyVXp is helmed by the Tourism Productivity Nexux (TPN) with the support by Malaysia Productivity Corportion (MPC) which aims to bring a whole new experience in local tourism under the "new normal".

Under the MyVXp, you can "visit" some of the local attractions, destinations or experience the tourism products in the country.

There are also hands-on activities which you can do with the rest of the travellers online.

Here are some of the experiences that you can join:

Live art stream with professional oil painting artist, Aishah (June 6, 3pm)

Express your inner feelings through paintings just like Dutch post-impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh did in his famous painting, The Starry Night.

But first, let's pick up on the basic techniques of oil painting by chatting and painting together with the Ipoh-born Aishah, who held her first solo art exhibition at Primera Hotel in Kuala Lumpur.

Her recent works on Covid 19 in Arts have been sold through online. The session will be conducted in Bahasa Malaysia.

Make your own t-shirt using tie and dye (June 7, 3pm)

Join Hafiz Sulaiman in the 90 minutes session as he shows you how to give an old t-shirt a whole new look by using the tie and dye technique.

Suitable for both adults and children, Hafiz will also share his knowledge in art through his vast experience as a textile and craft teacher.

Virtual kampung walkabout (June 5, 10am)

Stayed home far too long and wants a breath of fresh air, albeit a virtual one? Now you can.

Join Muhammad MinHouse as he takes you on a walkabout around Min House Camp in Kubang Kerian in Kota Bharu, Kelantan.

During the hour-long virtual tour, you will get to experience the making of traditional yo-yo by using materials sourced from the century-old beluru tree; lokan (a type of shellfish) hunting, get a taste of fresh honey from the stingless bee' hive and more.

Virtual tour on Negeri Sembilan (June 8, 11am)

Gain an insight into the world of matrilineal society in Negeri Sembilan, where women rule the clan instead of men.

The 60 minutes session will be helmed by tour guide RM Hafiz. Here, you will get to learn firsthand the adat perpatih, it's meaning as well as it's relevance in today's modern world.
