Happiness is a hammock!

PICTURE this: A cool breeze blows gently as you gaze up at the beautiful blue sky, iced lemon tea clasped in your hand, as you gently sway in your garden hammock. It’s all you need to kick back, relax and enjoy the great outdoors on a fine, sunny day.

A hammock is ideal for lounging, reading a book, napping, or chatting online with friends. Made for relaxation, a hammock is all you need to swing your blues away. Nothing makes a lazy day better than a leisurely swing or nap in a hammock. The soothing motion makes snoozing perfect. But it’s also made for playing and jumping. So the choice is yours.

You can hang your hammock between two trees in a shady spot in your garden or backyard. But if you do not have space to hang a hammock in your compound, or do not have a garden, you can still enjoy a hammock by hanging one on the rails of your balcony, or on a porch using wall hooks or straps. Make sure the railing, hooks and straps are sturdy enough to support a hammock.

Another alternative is to get a hammock that readily comes with a stand. I love this type for a reading corner. I can place it at any corner I want. In fact, a hammock would not only be fun to have in the outdoors but it would also fit right in with your indoor lounge. For this, eye up comfy and stylish hammock to lounge in.

Several hammock varieties are available, including adorable siesta hammock which looks like a park bench. But a more popular and classic type are the rope hammocks. These feature rope stitching that offers both good support and flexibility. Rope hammocks are usually made either of cotton or polyester. Cotton rope hammocks are more flexible than polyester. But polyester is less prone to mould and humidity. For a very humid climate, go for nylon rope hammocks.

Another choice is camping hammock, perfect for backpacking or backyard camping. It’s portable, comfortable and safe for outdoor sleeping. Made of super lightweight material, it can be easily folded and fit into a backpack. The advantage of using camping hammock is that it gets you off the hard or damp ground and makes a pleasant option than a tent.

Sling it in between trees but ensure that you have sufficient height and hanging distance. There may be more than one location to choose from, but more importantly, make sure it’s sturdily hung and can carry your weight well so that you can be cradled in comfort all day and night long.
