KUALA LUMPUR: Perodua is officially taking orders for its new 2022 Perodua Alza 1.5L which will be comes with an estimated price tag between RM62,000 and RM75,000 (in West Malaysia, without insurance and pre-sales tax).
President and chief executive officer Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmad said the new Alza has been designed to have a ground clearance of 160mm, which in the company's assessment is the best height for a pleasant Malaysian drive for an MPV based on one of the many consumer requests for a better driving experience.
The multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) also has a bigger interior space compared to its predecessor especially in the third row, and now with a rear air-conditioning unit.
Luggage capacity is at 137 litres and becomes 498 litres with the third row seats folded.
Running on a 1.5L Dual VVT-i EEV engine paired to a D-CVT transmission its fuel efficiency has also been improved said to be among the best in its class with up to potentially 22km per litre.
Other new features include a 360 Panoramic View, Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Brake Hold, Rear Disc Brake and a new Drive Mode: Normal, Eco and Power.
"To supersede its predecessor with significant improvements in terms of driving comfort and versatility while fulfilling requests, we took our time in designing this full model change as we truly wanted to understand what improvements our customers wanted," said Zainal.
"It (2022 Alza) represents our best effort so far in terms of product offering as the features included are the best within its price category," he added.
It'll be available in three variants: the X, H and AV. All of them will be come in five colour options: Ivory White, Glittering Silver, Garnet Red, and the new Elegant Black and Vintage Brown.
The standard Perodua Smart Drive Assist (PSDA) suite ior all variants includes the Advanced Safety Assist (ASA) features - Pre-collision Warning, Pre-Collision Assist Brake (for vehicles and pedestrian), Mis-pedal Operational Control and Front Departure Alert.
All variants will also include Lane Departure Warning and Lane Departure Prevention systems, Leaving Home Headlamp Assist, and Hill-start Assist functions.
Standard safety features include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, vehicle stability control (VSC) with brake assist and rear sensors to assist with parking.
