KUCHING: It was a rocky start to Monday for the people in Samarahan and Bandaraya Melaka as the two divisions registered unhealthy air pollutant concentration this morning.
Checks with the Department of Environment showed Bandaraya Melaka and Samarahan recorded an unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) reading of 132 and 130 respectively as at 8am.
Ten other areas nationwide were in the unhealthy category with Muar (105), Bukit Rambai (124), Nilai (102), Port Dickson (122), Seremban (115), Jerantut (102), Banting (108), Port Klang (103), Putrajaya (107) and Kuching (117).
The haze in Kuching had also disrupted flights operation at the Kuching International Airport here with a MASWings flight to Sibu at about 6am was cancelled due to the worsening situation.
Eight other automatic air stations in Sarawak clocked moderate and good API readings.
