GERIK: An 18-year-old teenager was killed on the spot after a freight elevator landed on her head.
Noor Syarmila Abu was pronounced dead by medical personnel sent to the shop, where the victim was working following the 7.20pm incident on Monday.
Gerik district police chief Superintendent Abdul Manab Baharom said initial investigations showed the victim was looking down the lift shaft.
"She might have accidentally pressed the button sending the lift box to come down from the top," he said.
Her remains had been sent to Gerik Hospital mortuary for post mortem.
The case had been classified as sudden death.
"Investigations into the matter is still ongoing," said Abdul Manab.
