Bid to pick Wan Azizah as MB spurs call for EGM

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Kedah PKR information chief Ishak Man has called on the PKR leadership to immediately hold an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) to discuss the party’s decision to nominate Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as the next Selangor menteri besar.

He said it was unfair that the decision was made without the agreement of all party members.

“It’s unfair for the party leadership not to follow the proper democratic process. I believe every party member should be given an equal right to speak their mind,” said the PKR veteran.

Ishak said it was vital for the party to ensure that Selangor was run competently and not allow any interference that could jeopardise the MB’s seat.

“Should the party leadership decide to press ahead with Dr Wan Azizah’s nomination without holding the EGM, it would only benefit certain quarters in the party for their own political gain.

“They would not, however, win the hearts of the people and not unify party members.”

He said the party, which was supposed to represent the voice of the people, had neglected the grouses of the grassroots members.
