Food company adopts children's home

KUANTAN: The floods that hit the capital of Pahang last December has prompted a food company from Malacca to adopt a children's home at Kampung Kempadang here.

Carjen Food Sdn Bhd public relations manager Michael Tam said the initiative was in collaboration with Kuantan Pahang Social and Welfare Volunteers Association (Perkas).

"Our company donated food to the flood victims with the help of Perkas which later introduced us to Nur Iman home for orphans and poor children," he said after breaking fast with the children at the premises recently.

Tam said the company had decided to provide its food products to the orphanage every month.

He said the company would allocate RM40,000 annually for Nur Iman orphanage which accommodates 50 residents, aged from 7 to 17.

Orphanage president Badrul Huzaini Mohd Yusof said he was grateful that Carjen Food was willing to help the children although the home was based in another state.
